October 31, HBIS Chairman Yu Yong met Rio Tinto CEO Jakob Stausholm in Beijing, the two sides had in-depth exchanges on the topic of deepening cooperation and jointly promoting green and low-carbon development of the industry. Rio Tinto Chief Commercial Officer Bold Baatar, Rio Tinto China Chairman Alf Barrios, Rio Tinto China Chairman Emeritus Ren Binyan, Rio Tinto Marketing and Sales President Tao Ge, Rio Tinto China CEO Xu Feng also attended the meeting.
Yu Yong congratulated that Rio Tinto had already delivered 4 billion tons iron ore to China and said HBIS and Rio Tinto cooperation had given great support to both companies’ growth. Currently, green and low carbon development has become the consensus of the globe and which is improving in production, consumption, investment, energy consumption, is reshaping the world economy. On carbon footprint reduction, HBIS and Rio Tinto are in action in the world supply chain, and the landscape in collaborated carbon reduction is forming in global supply chain. In future, the two need focus on further low carbon opportunities to enhance the mutually beneficial, and common achieve a carbon reduction to promote the whole industry sustainable development.
Jakob Stausholm said that Rio Tinto is thanked and appreciated the great support of HBIS. Facing the climate shifts of the globe, the whole industrial chain should be mobilized to go toward to green and low carbon development and which is required the whole supply chain to join in common. HBIS is a world leading and excellent multinational enterprise with strong sense of responsibility in the world and a long term partner of Rio Tinto. In future, besides delivering top products, Rio Tinto will be more open to explore more opportunities with HBIS, to leverage both parties’ strengths, to get common development, and to make more contribution for industry progress by mutual effort, to achieve low carbon steel production technologies and applications.
After the meeting, Yu Yong was invited to attend the ceremony of Rio Tinto 4 Billion Ton Delivery To China.
